Only professional users are utilizing encryption programs for email messages. These additional technologies e.g. PGP are fairly complex and difficult to use. So most of the messages remain unencrypted as from the early beginnings of the email technology (RFC 821 ist dated August 1982!).
The Security Object encrypts the email message in a very efficient and simple way. The sender inputs a password and the message is encrypted automatically. Email programs not having the ActiveMail technology will not be able to read the message. Only a recipient having ActiveMail and knowing the password will be able to see the message. ActiveMail will ask for the password at the recpient's side and open the message if the correct password is entered. No PGP no digital signature required.
Problem Data Transfer
There are three problems in the email data transfer:
- Security:
the file is buffered during data transfer and can be caught during transmission.
- Speed:
files are converted to ASCII - by this or example an images of 1 MB
creates a file of 2 MB. Converting to ASCII inflates the data volume, the transmission time gets
longer.
- Size of files:
If you want to transmit larger files (10 to 20 MB) there can be manifold
problems: limitations of the storage space by the provider or limitations
on the intermediate nodes of the data transmission.
Using the FTP Object these problems do not exist. The file is transmitted
to the server by the more powerful FTP protocol and is loaded from the
server when receiving the email message. ActiveMail assists sender and
recipient by an interface easy to use. Only the sender needs to indicate
the data for the FTP server. The recipient is asked only if he wants to
download the file.
As all objects of the ActiveMail technology the FTP object can be executed
at download, open, close mail or in a chain of different actions. FTP
object saves time in sending large files - the file is uploaded only once
and can send files of 500 megabytes and more.
If a mail message is marked in the inbox automatically an icon pops up with the company logo. This can be joint to open a car configurator web site or an ecommerce platform on open or close mail or to send just a plain message.
E-Mail is overtaking the place of letter post. But due to the flood of emails there is the problem, that an important mail may remain unnoticed. ActiveMail can attract the recipient's attention by images, by voice messages on reception of the mail.
You want to send a message to a blind person. But he blind cannot know if an email has arrived. Activemail is able to open a voice file receiving the mail. ActiveMail can even be extended to have text to speech capability.
